Hunters heading afield with their dogs this fall should keep in mind that some lakes or ponds in the state have toxic blue-green algae that can be highly poisonous. Hunters are advised to take plenty of fresh water for themselves and their dogs, and to closely inspect the surface of lakes and ponds for thick, green scum. Ingesting this water can be fatal to both hunters and dogs. For more information, see an advisory from the Washington Department of Heath at http://here.doh.wa.gov/materials/toxic-blue-green-algae-blooms/25_BGAlgae_E07L.pdf |
