Chair Gutzwiler called the conference call to order at 8:35 a.m.

SHELLFISH GEOGRAPHIC DEFINITIONS - RULE ACTION:
Morris Barker presented proposed permanent rule amendments to WAC 220-52-001, Shellfish-Geographical definitions, which would bring the definition of "coastal waters" in line with previously defined Marine Fish-Shellfish Management and Catch Reporting Areas. Public input was accepted at the Commission's March 16, 2007, conference call.

Commissioner Mahnken moved, seconded by Commissioner Perry, to adopt the rule amendments to WAC 220-52-001, Shellfish-Geographical definitions, as proposed. The motion carried unanimously. (Commissioner Douvia was absent during discussion and vote on the motion.)

LEGISLATIVE SESSION UPDATE:
Tom Davis and Commissioners discussed the status of and Commissioner viewpoints on legislation related to the conservation and management of fish and wildlife resources in Washington State.

PERFORMANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Sue Patnude, Department staff, and Commissioners discussed the development of public survey questions relative to the Department's Strategic Plan.

SUMMARY OF COMMISSION REQUESTS:
Commissioners reviewed the current list of Commission Requests to the Department.

COMMISSION COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Commissioners discussed recent activities of the various Commission committees.

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION AND EDUCATION:
Deputy Director Peck and Commissioners discussed development of an overall public communications and education policy for the agency.

GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Commissioners and Department staff discussed recent activities and items of interest.

Chair Gutzwiler adjourned the conference call at 11:20 a.m.

- Motion by Mahnken, second by Perry, to adopt the rule amendments to WAC 220-52-001, Shellfish-Geographical definitions, as proposed. The motion carried unanimously. *
