CONFERENCE CALL April 21, 2006 - 8:30 a.m. Olympia, Washington ATTENDANCE: Commission Department Ron Ozment, Chair Jeff Koenings, Director Ken Chew Larry Peck, Deputy Director Jerry Gutzwiler Ron McQueen, Business Services Chuck Perry Sue Patnude, Region 6 Director Will Roehl Jeff Tayer, Region 3 Director Shirley Solomon Brenda Kane, Personnel Office Miranda Wecker Jerry Nelson, Wildlife Program Commission Staff: Public Nancy Burkhart Eric Campbell, House Caucus Committee Chair Ozment called the conference call to order at 8:34 a.m. EXECUTIVE SESSION: At 8:35 a.m., pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(h), the Commission met in Executive Session to evaluate the qualifications of candidates for appointment to the Commission's Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities. The Executive Session was closed to the public, and no action took place during the Executive Session. At 8:50 a.m., the conference call was resumed. Commissioner Gutzwiler moved, seconded by Commissioner Perry, to appoint Gregory C. Hicks of Centralia to the Region 5 position on the Commission's Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities. The motion carried unanimously. POTENTIAL CHANGE TO ELK SPECIAL PERMITS IN ELK AREA 3068 -- BRIEFING: Jeff Tayer and Jerry Nelson briefed the Commission on a potential change to elk special permits in Elk Area 3068. STRATEGIC PLAN DEVELOPMENT --UPDATE: Sue Patnude updated the Commission on the Department's 2007-2009 biennial strategic plan development. On the Commission's May 19, 2006, conference call, the Commission will provide direction to the Department for the 2007-09 Biennial Strategic Plan. GENERAL DISCUSSION: Commissioners and Director Koenings discussed recent activities and items of interest. Commissioner Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Gutzwiler, to change the date and location for the Commission's December meeting to December 8-9, 2006, in Tumwater. The motion carried unanimously. (Commissioners Roehl and Solomon were absent during discussion and vote on the motion.) MEMOS AND AUTHORITIES FROM THE APRIL 21, 2006 FISH AND WILDLIFE COMMISSION CONFERENCE CALL, OLYMPIA Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities - Motion by Guzwiler, second by Perry, to appoint Gregory C. Hicks of Centralia to the Region 5 position on the Commission's Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities. The motion carried unanimously.   - Motion by Wecker, second by Guzwiler, to change the date and location for the Commission's December meeting to December 8-9, 2006, in Tumwater.
