RECENT ACTIVITIES AND ITEMS OF INTEREST:

Commissioners, Director Koenings, and Deputy Director Peck discussed recent activities and items of interest.

Director Koenings consulted with the Commission regarding possible Director adoption of an emergency rule to close the modern firearm any deer hunt in GMUs 243 through 247 for youth and disabled hunters to prevent an over harvest of antlerless and doe deer. The emergency rule would also add GMUs 243 through 247 to the September 1-30 Eastern Washington mule deer season, 3 point minimum, to correct an unintentional omission. Director Koenings will determine the appropriateness of Director adoption of the proposed emergency rule versus Commission adoption of a permanent rule.

Commissioners discussed the agenda for its August 18 work session and decided it would be much more productive if it had a facilitator for the work session. Due to the awkwardness of the Commission's schedule and the lack of a facilitator, the Commission decided to cancel the August 18 work session and schedule a future work session, date and location still to be determined.

PROPOSED ACQUISITION OF CONSERVATION EASEMENT:

Commissioner Roehl moved, seconded by Commissioner Tuck, to approve the acquisition of a conservation easement on the 10-acre Judd property in Okanogan County for $72,000. The motion to approve the acquisition carried unanimously.
