PROPOSED LAND TRANSACTIONS:

Dan Budd presented the Department's request for approval of numerous proposed land transactions.

Commissioner Roehl moved, seconded by Commissioner Van Gytenbeek, to approve:

-- Acquisition of the 320-acre Brace property in Klickitat County for $192,000; and

-- Sale of 3.08 acres of surplus Department property (known as the Retsil site) in Kitsap County to Kitsap Transit on a two-year lease/option for $298,000.

The motion carried unanimously.

RECENT ACTIVITIES:

The Commission and Director Koenings discussed recent activities and items of interest.

The following decisions were made during this discussion:

- Steve Pozzanghera will provide the Commission with additional information regarding the recent bighorn sheep kills by the Nez Perce Tribe.

- Director Koenings will provide Commissioner Van Gytenbeek with information on the proposed release of unmarked steelhead from Idaho hatcheries into the Snake River system.

- A Commission conference call will be held on December 30, 10:00 a.m., to consider adoption of an emergency rule to establish a fee of $6.00 for the two-day combination temporary fishing and shellfish license rather than the $9.00 fee established by the Commission at the December 10 meeting.

- The Commission Wildlife Committee was asked to review the Private Lands Wildlife Management Area (PLWMA) Program to determine if the Department should be promoting PLWMAs.

- Director Koenings will provide Commissioners with a copy of his response to Representative Clements' recent letter.

- A conference call with Fish Committee Commissioners and Department staff will be scheduled prior to December 31 to discuss the impacts of Columbia River dredging on fish and fisheries habitat.

- Motion by Roehl, second by Van Gytenbeek, to approve:
