CONFERENCE CALL February 10, 2000 - 9:00 a.m. Olympia, Washington ATTENDANCE: Commission Department Kelly White, Chairman Larry Peck, Deputy Director Russ Cahill, Vice Chairman Bob Gibbons Don Heinicke Lisa Pelly Will Roehl Public: None Fred Shiosaki Bob Tuck Van Van Gytenbeek Commission Staff: Debbie Nelson Bob Gibbons presented the Department's proposed list of lakes and stocking numbers for trophy trout. The Department will use $85,000 during the 2000 calendar year to purchase 44,800 triploid trout weighing an average 1.5 pounds a piece. The Department will stock the fish as close to the opening day as possible to piggyback opening day media coverage and angler surveys to determine the impact of trophy trout on license sales. Commissioner Van Gytenbeek moved, seconded by Commissioner Heinicke, to approve the proposed 2000 trophy trout distribution list. The motion carried unanimously. Deputy Director Peck discussed recent activities and items of interest. Commissioner Roehl moved, seconded by Commissioner Cahill, to request that the Department brief the Commission on the advisability and feasibility for adjusting requested trawl season extensions in North Puget Sound. The motion carried unanimously.
