Dan Budd presented the Department's request for approval to acquire certain real property interests necessary to facilitate the removal of Goldsborough Creek Dam and the restoration of Goldsborough Creek in Mason County.

In order to facilitate this project, it will be necessary to acquire several easements from landowners in the area. These easement estates are being identified and will be approved by the Corps of Engineers. Simpson Timber Company will be donating a conservation easement over the area where the dam is being removed. The Department will be acquiring several access easements from neighbors to reach the site and temporary work easements adjoining the site.

Due to project timing, it is necessary to move forward with Cooperative Project Agreements with the Corps of Engineers and Simpson Timber Company prior to concluding the real estate transactions. Because these agreements include commitments to acquire the necessary property rights, the Department is now seeking advance Commission authorization.

Commissioner Roehl moved, seconded by Commissioner Cahill, to grant the Director the authority to acquire those real property interests as are determined necessary to complete the Corps of Engineers' Section 206 Stream Restoration Project on Goldsborough Creek in Mason County. The motion carried unanimously.
