CONFERENCE CALL July 7, 2006 - 8:30 a.m. Olympia, Washington ATTENDANCE: Commission Department Ron Ozment, Chair Jeff Koenings, Director Ken Chew Larry Peck, Deputy Director Jerry Gutzwiler Morris Barker, Fish Program Chuck Perry Guy Norman, Region 5 Director Will Roehl Phil Anderson, Intergovernmental Resource Program Shirley Solomon Jo Wadsworth, Fish Program Miranda Wecker Dora Austin, Business Services Lisa Veneroso, Intergovernmental Resources Program Commission Staff: Public Nancy Burkhart none Chair Ozment called the conference call to order at 8:34 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Roehl, moved to approve the minutes of the following: - May 5, 2006, Commission conference call; - June 2, 2006, Commission conference call; - June 9-10, 2006, Commission meeting; - June 11, 2006, Commission special meeting; and - June 16, 2006, Commission conference call. The motion carried unanimously. (Since they had not read the minutes, Commissioners Ozment and Solomon abstained from discussion and vote on the motion.) GEODUCK HARVEST DEPTH DESCRIPTION -- BRIEFING: Morris Barker briefed the Commission on WAC 220-52-019, Geoduck clams--Gear and unlawful acts, which would standardize the lower depth restriction for geoduck harvest based on a fixed tidal height, rather than allowing it to vary with the tides. The Commission will consider action at its August 4-5, 2006, meeting in Mt. Vernon. BUDGET PROCESS UDPATE -- BRIEFING: Deputy Director Peck updated the Commission on the Department's budget process. On July 28, 2006, in Olympia, Department staff will brief the Commission on the: (1) 2007 Supplemental Operating Budget Request; (2) 2007 Supplemental Capital Budget Request; (3) 2007-2009 Operating Budget Request; and (4) 2007-2009 Capital Budget Request. The Commission will take action at its August 4-5, 2006, meeting in Mt. Vernon. GENERAL DISCUSSION: Commissioners and Director Koenings discussed recent activities and items of interest.
