RECENT ACTIVITIES:
Commissioners, Director Koenings, and Deputy Director Peck discussed recent activities and items of interest.
Commissioners agreed the Department should present a briefing at the May 17, 2001 conference call rather than an emergency rule proposal that would allow people to legally return from British Columbia to closed Washington areas.
Commissioner Tuck suggested that when working with farmers to address deer and/or elk damage problems, the Department should also provide definitive information on what farmers can and cannot do to prevent or control damage.
Commissioner Tuck suggested that the Department contact several western states (especially Colorado) to see what, if any, results they are getting from their testing for chronic wasting disease in deer.
A Commission work session subcommittee (consisting of Commissioners Cahill, Reynolds, and Shiosaki) was established to put together a Commission work session to be held this summer.
