AMENDMENTS TO STATEWIDE GAME FISH RULES::
The Commission considered adoption of permanent rule amendments which would allow limited harvest of wild steelhead in selected areas and time frames:- WAC 232-12-619, Permanent Washington statewide game fish rules; and
- WAC 232-28-619, Washington food fish and game fish--freshwater exceptions to statewide rules.The Commission heard oral testimony regarding the rule proposals at its public hearing held August 28, 2004, in Bremerton. No further public input was accepted.
Commissioner Shiosaki moved, seconded by Commissioner Ozment, to adopt WAC 232-12-619, Permanent Washington statewide game fish rules, and WAC 232-28-619, Washington food fish and game fish--freshwater exceptions to statewide rules as proposed.
Commissioner Shiosaki moved, seconded by Commissioner Ledgerwood, to amend the motion by changing WAC 232-12-619(3) to read: "…March 31st of which no more than three may be wild steelhead from…". The motion failed.
Commissioner Van Gytenbeek moved, seconded by Commissioner Tuck, to amend the motion by changing WAC 232-12-619(3) to read: "…March 31st of which no more than one may be a wild steelhead from…". The motion carried.
The motion, as amended, carried unanimously.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
The Commission did not meet in Executive Session.GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Commissioners and Director Koenings discussed recent activities and items of interest.
