CONFERENCE CALL September 23, 1999 - 9:00 a.m. Olympia, Washington ATTENDANCE: Commission Department Kelly White, Chairman Jeff Koenings, Director Russ Cahill, Vice Chairman Don Heinicke Public: Lisa Pelly None Fred Shiosaki Bob Tuck Van Van Gytenbeek Commission Staff: Debbie Nelson (The Commission and Director meet via conference telephone call the second and fourth Thursday of every month at 9:00 a.m.) Commissioners and Director Koenings discussed recent activities and items of interest. Commissioner Cahill requested that the Department provide Commissioners on the Finance and Operations Committee with copies of the supplemental budget request package well in advance of the October 7 conference call to allow time for thorough review. Commissioner Cahill moved, seconded by Commissioner Van Gytenbeek, to request that the Department provide the Commission with the following: - Recommendation on which state agency should have management and regulatory authority over aquaculture; - Summary of resources (dollars and staff) required to evaluate the impact of escaped Atlantic salmon on fish stocks in Washington and to manage and regulate Atlantic salmon; and - Other types of fish that could be used in salmon farming.
