Southwest Washington Enforcement Program

Fish and Wildlife Officers are fully commissioned state peace officers but our emphasis is fish, wildlife, habitat and other natural resource protection.

What we do

Enforce the fish and wildlife code

Officers cover Clark, Cowlitz, Klickitat, Lewis and Skamania counties. They patrol by vehicle, foot, boat and snow mobile.

Areas covered include the monitoring of commercial and sport fisheries, hunting seasons and habitat violations.

Handle problem and nuisance wildlife

Deer and elk can cause extensive agricultural and crop damage. Enforcement can assist landowners with techniques to reduce damage.

Bear and cougar sightings are becoming more prevalent within our region. If you see a bear or cougar that presents an emergency situation, call 911. In a non-emergency situation, you may call the Region 5 Office at (360) 696-6211.

For concerns with coyotes, the USDA Wildlife Services Agency should be contacted.

From time to time, Officers also have assisted with injured wildlife. The following two pictures show Officers working with injured deer in our local area.

Officers are dispatched through Washington State Patrol (WSP). To report violations in progress you should call 911 or the WSP Office. To report information on violations you may contact our Enforcement Program at (360) 696-6211.

The Enforcement Program strives to serve the public and natural resources. If there is anything we can do to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
