The states of Oregon and Washington met today to review recreational sturgeon fisheries in the Columbia River and took the following actions:

Mainstem Columbia River Recreational Sturgeon Fisheries

John Day Reservoir (John Day Dam to McNary Dam)

  • Effective 12:01 AM Monday April 13, 2009 the retention of sturgeon in the Columbia River and tributaries between John Day and McNary Day dams will be prohibited.

The Dalles Reservoir (The Dalles Dam to John Day Dam)

  • Effective 12:01 AM Sunday April 19, 2009 the retention of sturgeon in the Columbia River and tributaries between The Dalles and John Day dams will be prohibited.

All other permanent angling regulations remain in effect.
