The following Columbia River Seasons were set:

2006 Commercial Salmon Fishery

Dates:

  • 7:00 p.m. Thursday July 6 to 7:00 a.m. Friday July 7, 2006
  • 7:00 p.m. Monday July 10 to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday July 11, 2006
  • 7:00 p.m. Wednesday July 12 to 7:00 a.m. Thursday July 13, 2006
  • 7:00 p.m. Monday July 17 to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday July 18, 2006
  • 7:00 p.m. Wednesday July 19 to 7:00 a.m. Thursday July 20, 2006
  • 7:00 p.m. Monday July 24 to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday July 25, 2006
  • 7:00 p.m. Wednesday July 26 to 7:00 a.m. Thursday July 27, 2006
Area:

Zones 1-5.

Gear:

7 inch minimum mesh size restriction.

Sanctuaries:

Standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries remain in effect. The Spring Creek Hatchery Sanctuary is not necessary this time of year.

Allowable Sales:

Chinook, coho, white sturgeon and shad. All sockeye and steelhead must be immediately released. A maximum of three white sturgeon may be possessed or sold by each participating vessel during each calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) that the fishery is open. The sturgeon possession/sales limit includes only mainstem fisheries, as Select Area commercial fisheries are closed for sturgeon retention. Green sturgeon may not be retained.

 

Miscellaneous Rules:
  • A Columbia River Compact/Joint State hearing will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday July 6 via teleconference to review the ongoing summer Chinook sport fishery below Bonneville Dam. A Compact hearing will follow to discuss additional treaty Indian fisheries.
  • A Columbia River Compact for consideration of commercial fall fisheries has been scheduled at 10:00 AM Thursday July 27 located at 25 River St in Cathlamet, Washington 98612.
