All of Zone 6

Gear:

No minimum mesh size restriction

Sanctuaries:

Standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries applicable to these gear types remain in effect. The Spring Creek Hatchery Sanctuary is not necessary this time of year.

Allowable Sales:

Chinook, coho, sockeye, steelhead, walleye, carp, and shad may be sold or retained for subsistence. Sturgeon may not be sold. Sturgeon between 4-5 feet in length in The Dalles and John Day pools may be retained for subsistence. Sturgeon between 42-60 inches in the Bonneville Pool may also be retained for subsistence.

  • Sales of Platform Hook and line caught fish in Zone 6 will continue as previously adopted

  • Commercial sales of fish caught in Yakama Nation's Zone 6 tributary fisheries will continue as previously adopted.

  • Commercial sales of platform/ hook and line caught fish landed in the Yakama Nation subsistence fishery immediately below Bonneville Dam will continue. This fishery is located on the Washington shoreline from 600 feet below the fish ladder at the Bonneville Dam north-shore powerhouse downstream to Beacon Rock (bank fishing only) and is open to Yakama Tribal members only. Sales of fish coincide with Zone 6 sales with the exception of sturgeon, which may NOT be retained for sale or subsistence purposes, consistent with the 2007 MOA between Washington State and Yakama Nation.

  • A Compact hearing is scheduled for July 22, 2008 at 10 AM via teleconference to consider fall Select Area fisheries, early fall mainstem commercial fisheries, and the recreational sturgeon fishery above Wauna. The tribes may also have early fall season fishery proposals at this hearing as well
