Platform and Hook and Line Fishery - Mainstem Columbia River
Dates: 6:00 AM, Saturday May 16, 2009 until further notice.
Area: Zone 6 (Bonneville Dam upstream to McNary Dam).
Gear: Hoop Nets, Dip Nets and hook and line.
Sanctuaries: Standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries applicable to these gear types remain in effect.
The Spring Creek Hatchery Sanctuary is not necessary this time of year.
Allowable Sales: Chinook, steelhead, sockeye, walleye, carp, and shad may be sold or retained for subsistence. Sturgeon may not be sold. Sturgeon between 43-54 inches in fork length in The Dalles and John Day pools may be retained for subsistence. Sturgeon between 38-54 inches in fork length in the Bonneville pool may also be retained for subsistence.

  • Columbia River Tributaries above Bonneville Dam:
    6:00 a.m. Saturday May 16, 2009 until further notice. Open only during those times when the tributaries listed below are open under lawfully enacted Yakama Nation tribal subsistence fishery regulations for enrolled Yakama Nation members. Commercial sales of fish caught in Yakama Nation Zone 6 tributary fisheries are allowed only when the tributary openings overlap with commercial openings in Zone 6. The allowed species for sale would coincide with the mainstem fisheries. The general fishing schedule for these tributaries is:

    Wind River Noon Monday to 6 PM Saturday
    through June 27
    Beginning 6 AM May 16 and then each weekly opening Noon Mon. to 6 PM Saturday. (no fishing Sundays)
    Big White Salmon River Closed Sundays Beginning 6 AM May 16 and then each weekly open 6:00 AM Mon. to 6 PM Saturday. (no fishing Sundays)
    Klickitat River Noon Wednesday to 6 PM Saturdays through May 30 Beginning 6 AM May 16 and then each weekly opening Noon Wed. to 6 PM Saturday. (no fishing Sundays)
    Drano Lake/Little White Salmon 9:00 PM Tuesday through Noon Wednesday May 19 to June 10 9:00 PM Each Tuesday through Noon Wednesday through June 10.

    24-hour Quick reporting rule in effect for Washington buyers.

  • Mainstem Columbia River below Bonneville Dam:
    6:00 a.m. Saturday May 16, 2009 until further notice. Only under the conditions in the Memo of Agreement (MOA) titled “2007 Memorandum of Agreement Between the Yakama Nation and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Regarding Tribal Fishing Below Bonneville Dam.” Only for enrolled Yakama Nation members. AREA: On the Washington shoreline from 600 feet below the fish ladder at the Bonneville Dam North shore powerhouse, downstream to Beacon Rock (bank fishing only). Commercial sales of fish are allowed only when commercial sales are allowed Zone 6. Exception include: Sturgeon may not be kept below Bonneville Dam for any purpose. Fish may NOT be sold on USACE Property below Bonneville Dam, but may be caught and transported off USACE Property for sale. 24-hour Quick reporting rule in effect for Washington buyers.
