THE FOLLOWING COLUMBIA RIVER SEASONS WERE SET:

2006 COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHERY

DATES:

7:00 PM Monday June 26 through 5:00 AM Tuesday June 27 (10 hours)
7:00 PM Wednesday July 5 through 5:00 AM Thursday July 6 (10 hours)

AREA: Zones 1-5
SANCTUARIES: Grays River, Elokomin-A, Cowlitz River, Kalama-A, Lewis-A, Washougal and Sandy River.
GEAR: 8-inch minimum and 9 ¾-inch maximum mesh size restriction.
ALLOWABLE SALES:Chinook, coho, sturgeon and shad. All sockeye and steelhead must be immediately released. A maximum of three sturgeon total (white or green) may be possessed or sold by each participating vessel during each calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) that the fishery is open. The sturgeon possession/sales limit includes both mainstem and Select Area fisheries.
MISCELLANEOUS RULES: Quick Reporting Rules will be in effect for Washington buyers.

Washington buyers are required to send a report of their landings to WDFW by 10AM on the day after the purchase date by either:

2006 2006 Treaty Indian Fisheries

Commercial Gillnet Fishery (2.5 days)

DATES:

6:00 AM Tuesday, June 20 until 6:00 PM Thursday, June 22.

AREA: All of Zone 6
GEAR: 7 inch minimum mesh size restriction
SANCTUARIES: Standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries remain in effect. The Spring Creek Hatchery Sanctuary is not necessary this time of year.
ALLOWABLE SALES:Chinook, coho, steelhead, walleye, carp, and shad may be sold or retained for subsistence. Sockeye may not be sold but may be retained for subsistence. Sturgeon may not be sold. Sturgeon between 4-5 feet in length in The Dalles and John Day pools may be retained for subsistence. Sturgeon between 45-60 inches in the Bonneville pool may also be retained for subsistence.

Sales of platform and hook and line caught fish will continue until further notice. The intent is to allow sales of platform and hook and line caught fish through the summer season.

Additionally, the Yakama Nation will continue to allow the commercial sale of salmon and steelhead caught during its regular scheduled openings in the Klickitat and White Salmon Rivers.

MISCELLANEOUS RULES: The quick reporting rule for Washington buyers will be in effect.
