THE FOLLOWING ACTION WAS TAKEN ON COLUMBIA RIVER FISHERIES:

2008 Buoy 10 Recreational Fishery |
| Season: |
Effective Monday, August 25, chinook salmon retention will be prohibited in the Buoy 10 recreational fishery (Buoy 10 to Tongue/Rocky Point line).
The fishery would remain open for hatchery coho and hatchery steelhead under permanent regulations.

- No additional Compact/Joint State hearings are currently scheduled. The Joint Staff anticipates the need for a Compact hearing in mid-August via teleconference to discuss additional non-Indian mainstem commercial fishing opportunities.

11 PM Tuesday August 26 to 5 AM Wednesday August 27 (6 hours)

Zones 4-5

Sanctuaries: |
Lewis-B, Washougal, and Sandy Rivers
|
Gear: |
9" minimum and 9¾" maximum mesh size restriction.
|
Allowable Sales: |
Salmon and white sturgeon. A maximum of 3 white sturgeon may be possessed or sold by each participating vessel during each calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) that the fishery is open. The white sturgeon possession and sales limit includes mainstem fisheries only.

12 hour Quick Reporting Rule in effect for Washington buyers

The Joint Staff will track landings as the fishery progresses and request a Compact (via telephone) if necessary. Staff anticipates that if further action is needed, the announcement will be distributed Tuesday morning, August 26.
