COMPACT HEARING RESULTS:

Summer Chinook Recreational Fishery

The Compact met today to review Upper Columbia Summer Chinook stock status and the ongoing recreational fisheries below Bonneville Dam.

No action was taken on this fishery. The fishery remains open at this time.

A Joint State hearing has been scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday June 27 via teleconference to review ongoing fisheries and consider additional management actions. The Joint Staff will determine if additional management actions are needed based on updated run size and fishery performance. Based on this updated information, recreational fisheries below Priest Rapids Dam may require modification.

A Compact is scheduled for at 10:00 AM Thursday July 27, 2006 located at 25 River St in Cathlamet, Washington 98612.

2006 2006 Treaty Indian Fisheries

Commercial Gillnet Fishery

DATES:	6:00 AM Tuesday, June 27 until 6:00 PM Thursday June 29. 6:00 AM Wednesday, July 5 until 6:00 PM Friday, July 7.
AREA:	All of Zone 6
GEAR:	7 inch minimum mesh size restriction.
SANCTUARIES:	Standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries remain in effect. The Spring Creek Hatchery Sanctuary is not necessary this time of year.
ALLOWABLE SALES:	Chinook, coho, steelhead, walleye, carp, and shad may be sold or retained for subsistence. Sockeye may not be sold but may be retained for subsistence. Sturgeon may not be sold. Sturgeon between 4-5 feet in length in The Dalles and John Day pools may be retained for subsistence. Sturgeon between 45-60 inches in the Bonneville pool may also be retained for subsistence. Sales of platform and hook and line caught fish will continue until further notice. The intent is to allow sales of platform and hook and line caught fish through the summer season. Additionally, the Yakama Nation will continue the commercial sale of fish caught during its regular scheduled openings in the Klickitat and White Salmon Rivers that are allowed under Yakama Nation regulations.
MISCELLANEOUS RULES:	The quick reporting rule for Washington buyers will be in effect.
