SPORT QUOTA REPORT Ocean Area 1 (Columbia Ocean Area) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 29 with a quota of 112,500 coho and a guideline of 12,700 chinook. Water conditions this past week were good to moderate, and overall effort increased with the opening of the Columbia River Buoy 10 fishery on August 1. The catch estimates for Area 1 during week 31 are 577 chinook and 9,182 coho. A total of 2 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 3 total 2,065 chinook (16% of the guideline) and 33,137 coho (30% of the quota). Ocean Area 2 (Westport) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 83,250 coho and a guideline of 40,600 chinook. Water conditions this past week were good to moderate, and pink were unusually abundant early in the week. The catch estimates for Area 2 during week 31 are 2,148 chinook and 1,676 coho. A total of 2,600 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 3 total 11,096 chinook (27% of the guideline) and 17,604 coho (21% of the quota). Ocean Area 3 (La Push) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 5,750 coho and a guideline of 2,300 chinook. Water conditions this past week were good to moderate. The catch estimates for Area 3 during week 31 are 239 chinook and 329 coho. A total of 189 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 3 total 931 chinook (41% of the guideline) and 1,743 coho (30% of the quota). Ocean Area 4 (Neah Bay) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 23,400 coho and a guideline of 3,900 chinook. Water conditions this past week were good to moderate. The catch estimates for Area 4 during week 31 are 457 chinook and 2,315 coho. A total of 855 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 3 total 3,802 chinook (98% of the guideline) and 10,279 coho (44% of the quota). |
