SPORT QUOTA REPORT Columbia Ocean Area (including Oregon) Ocean Area 1 opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 29 with a quota of 112,500 coho and a guideline of 12,700 chinook. Water conditions this past week were good. The catch estimates for Area 1 during week 33 are 1,035 chinook and 19,043 coho. A total of 4 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 17 total 4,785 chinook (38% of the guideline) and 70,158 coho (62% of the quota). Westport Ocean Area 2 opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 83,250 coho and a guideline of 40,600 chinook. Water conditions this past week were good, though fog was common. The catch estimates for Area 2 during week 33 are 2,285 chinook and 5,595 coho. A total of 263 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 17 total 15,959 chinook (39% of the guideline) and 26,259 coho (32% of the quota). La Push Ocean Area 3 opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 5,750 coho and a guideline of 2,300 chinook . Water conditions this past week were good, though fog was common. The catch estimates for Area 3 during week 33 are 310 chinook and 392 coho. A total of 179 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 17 total 1,504 chinook (65% of the guideline) and 2,590 coho (45% of the quota). Neah Bay Ocean Area 4 opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 23,400 coho and a guideline of 3,900 chinook. Water conditions this past week were good, but fog was frequently extreme. The catch estimates for Area 4 during week 33 are 287 chinook and 1,414 coho. A total of 1,730 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 17 total 4,464 chinook (15% over the guideline) and 15,066 coho (64% of the quota). |
