SPORT QUOTA REPORT On August 21, a total of 5,000 chinook from the north of Falcon recreational total allowable catch was transferred to the north of Falcon non-Treaty troll total allowable catch. The resulting recreational quota is 54,600 chinook; the revised non-Treaty troll quota is 69,400 chinook. Columbia Ocean Area (including Oregon) Ocean Area 1 (Columbia Ocean Area) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 29 with a quota of 112,500 coho and a guideline of 12,700 chinook. Water conditions were moderate to rough and fog was heavy late in the week. The catch estimates for Area 1 during week 35 are 550 chinook and 9,928 coho. No pink were landed. Cumulative catches through August 31 total 6,987 chinook and 93,375 coho (83% of the quota). Westport Ocean Area 2 (Westport) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 83,250 coho and a guideline of 40,600 chinook. Water conditions were moderate to rough and fog was heavy late in the week. The catch estimates for Area 2 during week 35 are 1,705 chinook and 3,356 coho. A total of 55 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 31 total 20,032 chinook and 34,949 coho (42% of the quota). La Push Ocean Area 3 (La Push) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 5,750 coho and a guideline of 2,300 chinook . Water conditions were fair to rough last week. The catch estimates for Area 3 during week 35 are 52 chinook and 251 coho. A total of 34 pink were also landed. Cumulative catches through August 31 total 1,734 chinook and 3,259 coho (57% of the quota). Neah Bay Ocean Area 4 (Neah Bay) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 23,400 coho and a guideline of 3,900 chinook. Water conditions were fair to rough last week with heavy fog late in the week. The catch estimates for Area 4 during week 35 are 135 chinook and 1,918 coho. A total of 471 pink were also landed.
