2003 PFMC OCEAN SPORT QUOTA REPORT

Port Summaries

Columbia Ocean Area (including Oregon) - Ocean Area 1: opens for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 29.

Westport - Ocean Area 2: opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 83,250 coho and a guideline of 40,600 chinook. Water conditions were rough, but effort was high. The catch estimate for Area 2 on opening day, June 22, is 451 chinook (1% of the guideline) and 778 coho (1% of the quota).

La Push - Ocean Area 3: opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 5,750 coho and a guideline of 2,300 chinook . Water conditions were rough and effort was low. The catch estimate for Area 3 on opening day, June 22 is 27 chinook (1% of the guideline) and 41 coho (1% of the sub-quota).

Neah Bay - Ocean Area 4: opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 22 with a quota of 23,400 coho and a guideline of 3,900 chinook. Weather conditions were rough, with most anglers staying in the Straits; effort was moderate. The catch estimate for Area 4 on opening day, June 22 is 85 chinook (2% of the guideline) and 202 coho (1% of the sub-quota).
