Salmon Fishery: Week 39-41 (September 19 - October 9)
In-season management
actions:
- Effective July
29, the Columbia River ocean area, the Westport area, and the La Push
area opened tosalmon fishing 7 days per week with a two salmon daily
bag limit.
- Effective August
16, the Neah Bay area daily bag limit was modified to two salmon (with
no chum retentionAugust 1-September 18).
- Effective August
30, the Neah Bay area opened to salmon fishing 7 days per week.
- Effective September
9, the Columbia River area daily bag limit was modified to two salmon
with NO CHINOOK retention.
- Effective September
9, the Columbia River area daily bag limit was modified to two salmon
with NO CHINOOK retention.
- Effective September
17, the Columbia River area daily bag limit was modified to two salmon.

Ocean Area (including Oregon)
Ocean Area 1 (Columbia Ocean Area) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, July 3 with a quota of 60,900 coho and a guideline of 8,200 chinook. The fishery closed on its automatic closure date of September 30. The catch estimates for Area 1 during week 39 are 78 chinook and 145 coho and during week 40 are 4 chinook and 5 coho. The total catches for Area 1 through the 2005 season are estimated at 13,196 chinook and 38,730 coho (64% of the quota).

Ocean Area 2 (Westport) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Sunday, June 26 with a quota of 45,066 coho and a guideline of 28,750 chinook. The fishery closed on its automatic closure date of September 18. The total catches for Area 2 through the 2005 season are estimated at 22,396 chinook and 10,504 coho (23% of the quota).

Push
Ocean Area 3 (La Push) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Friday, July 1 with a sub-quota of 3,067 coho and a guideline of 1,900 chinook . The fishery closed on its automatic closure date of September 18 with total catches estimated at 1,623 chinook and 2,285 coho (75% of the quota). The area reopened for the late-season "bubble" fishery on September 24 and closed on its automatic closure date of October 9. The catch estimates for Area 3 are 15 chinook and 28 coho during week 39, 41 chinook and 18 coho during week 40, and 3 chinook and 0 coho during week 41. The total bubble fishery catches through October 9 are estimated at 59 chinook and 46 coho.

Bay
Ocean Area 4 (Neah Bay) opened for recreational salmon fishing on Friday, July 1 with a quota of 12,667 coho and a guideline of 4,300 chinook. The fishery closed on its automatic closure date of September 18. The total catches for Area 4 through the 2005 season are estimated at 2,677 chinook and 10,119 coho (80% of the quota).
