The Ringold Steelhead Fishery December Summary

The Ringold steelhead fishery opened October 1. Angler activity continued to decline in December. Angler numbers (pole hours), catch, and harvest were similar to last years'. The estimated catch for December was 174 steelhead (156 harvest). For December, 90% of the catch were Ringold origin steelhead (adipose + right vent clipped) and 5.9% of the catch were wild (all wild fish were released) . Recycled steelhead (fish transported from the Ringold Rearing Facility and released in the Columbia River in the Tri-cities) comprised 17% of the steelhead harvest in December. WDFW staff sampled 31% of the total effort.

Overall this season, 1,810 steelhead have been caught, 1,565 harvested, and 66 (3.7%) wild steelhead have been caught and released.
