The Ringold Steelhead Fishery November Summary

The Ringold steelhead fishery opened October 1. Angler activity dropped dramatically in November as the fall chinook fishery came to a close. The estimated catch for November was 493 steelhead (419 harvest) and 54 chinook (adult and jack combined). For November, 91% of the catch were Ringold origin steelhead (adipose + right vent clipped) and only 3.2% of the catch were wild. Recycled steelhead (fish transported from the Ringold Rearing Facility and released in the Columbia River in the Tri-cities) comprised 26% of the steelhead harvest in November. WDFW staff sampled 32% of the total effort. Catch and effort were lower in November this year compared to 2003.

Overall this season, 1,636 steelhead have been caught, 1,406 harvested, and 56 (3.4%) wild steelhead have been caught and released.
