WDFW - Ringold, Hanford Reach and Yakima River Fishing Reports

During April an estimated 276 steelhead were caught, 169 of these were retained (160 adrv, 8 ad), 6 wild steelhead were caught and released. Catch, harvest, and angler effort for April was the highest in the past four years.

For the season, I estimate 2,297 steelhead were caught, 1,709 of these were retained. Wild steelhead, caught and released, comprised 3.6% of the catch. Final estimates should be ready and sent out within the next month.

On May 1 we will open the spring chinook fishery at Ringold. This fishery will be restricted to "bank fishing only" from the WDFW markers 1/4 mile downstream of the Ringold irrigation wasteway outlet to the markers ½ mile upstream of Spring Creek (hatchery outlet).
