Salmon/Steelhead
Cowlitz -
24 bank anglers at the barrier dam kept 5 steelhead and released 3.
At Blue Creek, 8 boat anglers kept 13 steelhead. Fish are also being
caught in the lower river.
Lewis River
- 14 bank anglers at the mouth kept 1 steelhead and released 2.
10 bank and 4 boat anglers on the North Fork Lewis had no catch.
Lower Columbia
below Bonneville Dam - Effort is higher this year with over 1600
salmonid boats counted on Friday March 27 compared to 600 on Thursday
March 27, 2008.
Bonneville and
John pools - Slow for salmonids.
The Dalles Pool
- Even with just over a hundred adult chinook over Bonneville Dam, a
fish was caught by a bank angler in The Dalles Pool.
Sturgeon

The Dalles and
John Day pools - Boat anglers are catching some legals.
The recreational
sturgeon catch in The Dalles and John Day pools are approaching the
guidelines of 300 and 165 fish, respectively, for the year. The states
will announce a meeting in the next few days to consider closing the
fishery to the retention of sturgeon.
Walleye and Bass
Bonneville Pool
- Little
to no effort for either specie.
The Dalles Pool
- Including fish released, boat anglers averaged just over a walleye
per rod. Little effort for bass.
John Day Pool
- Boat anglers averaged a walleye per every 2.8 boat anglers when
including fish released.
Trout
Klineline Pond
- Planted
with 1,000 half-pound browns March 23.
