Salmon/Steelhead -
Cowlitz River - Anglers continue to catch good numbers of hatchery summer run steelhead. Flows below Mayfield Dam were 3,530 cfs today.
Lewis River - Bank anglers at the mouth of the Lewis are catching some hatchery summer run steelhead. Flows below Merwin Dam were 1,270 cfs today.
Drano Lake - Including fish released, boat anglers averaged nearly a summer run steelhead per rod last week. 65 boats counted here Saturday (Aug. 9).
White Salmon River - Bank anglers at the mouth are catching fall chinook and summer run steelhead. Boat anglers averaged 3/4 steelhead per rod last week, including fish released. 35 boats/tubers counted here Saturday (Aug. 9).
Klickitat River - Producing some summer run steelhead for bank anglers.
Marine Area 1 - Report should be available Wednesday.
Buoy 10 - Still no report available from WDFW.
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Including fish released, boat anglers averaged nearly ½ steelhead per rod based on complete trips last week while bank anglers averaged one per every 5 rods based on mainly incomplete trips. Over 70% of the catch were hatchery fish, mainly one-salts. A few fall chinook beginning to appear in the catch.
Sturgeon -
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - A few legals are being caught scattered throughout the lower river from the Wauna power lines upstream.
Through July 31, an estimated 5,913 sturgeon had been taken of the 12,000 fish guideline (49.3%) above the Wauna power lines. Below the Wauna Power lines, an estimated 18,367 of the 18,000 fish guideline (102%) had been taken. Overall, 24,280 of the 30,000 annual guideline (80.9%) has been taken.
Trout -
Riffe and Mayfield lakes - Slow for bank anglers.
Merwin Reservoir - Boat anglers averaged 3 kokanee per rod last week. Fish ranged from 10-14 inches.
Yale Reservoir - Boat anglers averaged nearly 7 kokanee per rod last week (note daily limit 16). Fish ranged from 10-12 inches.
Swift Reservoir - Bank and boat anglers averaged 3 rainbows per rod last week. Fish ranged from 10-17 inches.
All three reservoirs were reported 4.6 feet below full pool last Thursday Aug. 7
