Cowlitz River
- Sea run cutthroats and summer run steelhead are being caught around
Blue Creek. Light effort on the lower river.
Lewis River -
Some steelhead are being caught near the mouth.
Wind River -
Light effort although some steelhead are being caught. Just 2 boats
were counted Saturday August 11 morning.
Drano Lake -
Boat anglers averaged over ½ fish per rod while bank anglers
averaged one per every 4 rods when including fish released.
White Salmon
River - Including fish released, boat anglers averaged a steelhead
per rod while bank anglers averaged one per every other rod. Bank anglers
are also catching some chinook. About 50 water craft here last Saturday
August 11 morning. In addition, there were over a dozen boats outside
the mouth.
Klickitat
River - Bank anglers are catching some summer run steelhead.
Buoy 10 -
At the Ports of Chinook and Ilwaco/Fort Canby 24 boats with 57 anglers
were sampled; there was no catch.
7 boats were observed
at Buoy 10 during the Saturday August 11 flight. Patches of red tide
and actively feeding birds were observed there this past week. At the
"A" Jetty, water temperature has been between 50-64 degrees
depending upon the tidal stage the past couple days (see http://www.ccalmr.ogi.edu/CORIE/map2.html).
Lower Columbia
below Bonneville Dam - Last week we sampled 715 salmonid anglers
with 4 adult and 1 jack fall chinook and 162 steelhead. Adult chinook
are being caught around Kalama; steelhead catches were best from Longview
upstream. Overall bank anglers averaged a steelhead per every 4 rods
while boat anglers averaged one per every 5 rods based on mainly incomplete
and completed trips, respectively. Over 2/3 of the steelhead caught
were kept.
During the Saturday
Aug. 11 flight, 383 salmonid boats and 286 WA and 88 OR bank anglers
were counted from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville
Dam.
