Salmon/Steelhead

Blue Creek (tributary to Cowlitz River) - 17 bank anglers kept 13 steelhead and released 15 fish. Most of the fish released were darker summer run steelhead. From the mouth to Spencer Road, up to 6 hatchery steelhead may be kept per day through January 31.

Cowlitz River - 99 bank anglers caught 43 steelhead, 7 adult and 1 jack coho and released 2 steelhead. 6 boat anglers had no catch. Most of the steelhead were caught near Blue Creek and the coho at the barrier dam. From the mouth to Mayfield Dam, up to 6 hatchery steelhead may be kept per day through January 31.

Lake Scanewa (Cowlitz Falls Reservoir) - 21 boat anglers kept 10 adult and 3 jack coho and released 3 adults and 1 jack. 2 bank anglers kept 1 jack coho. The lake was drawn down due to flood flows on Friday December 15 and returned to normal by mid Saturday. The Day Use Park and boat launch were closed Friday and remained closed through last weekend.

Kalama River- fairly high green water, some boating activity. Fair to
good steelheading in the canyon.

The past week 50 hatchery winter steelhead were recycled to the lower
river. About a hundred dark coho were also handled. 12 wild winter fish
were passed upstream of the hatchery along with a few summer-run. The
return is about 80 percent of last year, however due to the high water the
fish trap has not been able to consistently and effectively trap fish.

The past week 225 hatchery winter steelhead were recycled to the lower
river. About two hundred coho were also handled. Also, 27 wild winter fish
were passed upstream of the hatchery along with a few summer-run

North Fork Lewis River - 44 bank anglers kept 7 steelhead and 1 adult coho plus released 1 adult chinook, 15 adult and 2 jack coho and 1 steelhead. 10 boat anglers kept 3 adult chinook, 1 adult coho, and released 4 adult coho.

Sturgeon -

Lower Columbia from the Wauna powerlines upstream to Bonneville Dam - 20 bank anglers near Longview had no catch while 3 boats/9 anglers released 2 sublegals. 1 boat/2 anglers sampled at Kalama released 1 sublegal.

Trout -

Klineline Pond - Planted with 2,000 nearly half-pound rainbows on December 12.

Icehouse Lake near Bridge of the Gods - Planted with 1,500 nearly half-pound rainbows on December 12.

Rowland Lake near Lyle - Planted with 62 broodstock rainbows averaging 10 pounds each on December 12.
