Salmon/Steelhead -
Cowlitz River - Boat anglers averaged over 3/4 hatchery summer run steelhead per rod last week. Bank anglers were also catching some fish. Flows below Mayfield Dam were 3,150 cfs today.
Drano Lake - Catch and effort continues to build. Including fish released, boat anglers averaged a summer run steelhead per rod last week. 52 boats were counted there Sunday (July 27) morning.
White Salmon River - Anglers are catching some summer chinook and steelhead. 30-40 boats present.
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Slower last week with bank anglers averaging a steelhead kept/released per every 9.7 rods based mainly on incomplete trips last week. Not many summer chinook in the catches. Beginning August 1, fall chinook and hatchery coho may be kept.
John Day Pool - Light effort and catches.
Sturgeon -
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - A few legals being caught by bank anglers in the Longview area and just below Bonneville Dam. Mostly sublegals and a few oversizes in the boat catches from Longview upstream.
John Day Pool - Produced some legals for boat anglers last week. Now catch and release only through the end of the year.
Walleye and Bass -
Camas/Washougal - Boat anglers are catching some walleye in the area.
John Day Pool - Boat anglers averaged nearly 1.5 walleye and 8 bass per rod counting fish kept/released last week.
Trout -
Riffe Lake - Boat anglers were catching some landlocked coho but fishing has slowed for bank anglers. The reservoir was reported 9 feet below full pool today.
Mayfield Lake - Anglers are catching some rainbows.
Merwin Reservoir - Boat anglers averaged 2 kokanee per rod last week. Fish ranged from 10-14 inches. The reservoir was reported 4 feet below pool last Friday July 25.
Yale Reservoir - Boat anglers are catching some kokanee. Fish averaged around 10 inches. The reservoir was reported 3.6 feet below pool last Friday July 25.
Kress Lake and Klineline Pond - Bank anglers are catching some browns.
Swift Reservoir, Horseshoe, Battleground, Icehouse, and Spearfish lakes - The few shore anglers sampled were catching some rainbows. Boat anglers at Swift Reservoir had the best success of the group. Fish there were 12-13 inches. The reservoir was reported 4 feet below pool last Friday July 25.
