Salmon/Steelhead
- Cowlitz River (including Lake Scanewa) - At Lake Scanewa, anglers averaged
nearly a coho per rod last week. No report on angling success on the lower
river.
- Through October 30, a total of 26,093 adult and 5,012 jack hatchery coho
had returned to the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery. This year's jack coho total to
date is greater than the season total for all of 2001. Nearly 24,000 of the
hatchery adult coho have been released into the upper Cowlitz watershed so
far this year.
- At the Cowlitz Trout Hatchery, nearly 7,000 adult sea-run cutthroat had
returned through October 30.
- Kalama and Lewis rivers - Producing some hatchery coho and hatchery steelhead
for bank anglers.
- Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Effort and catches continue to wane.
- Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers are catching good numbers of coho, mostly
at the mouth of the Klickitat River.
- Ringold - Chinook and hatchery steelhead are being caught in good numbers.
Sturgeon
- Lower Columbia below Bonneville
- Effort continues to remain light during the current catch and release fishery.
- Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers are catching some legals. No legals were
found from bank anglers sampled last week.
