WDFW Sport Sampling Results:

Salmon/Steelhead -

Lake Scanewa (Cowlitz Falls Reservoir) - Last week, 3 bank anglers caught 1 coho. 18 boat anglers had no catch. The low catch was probably still due to turbid water.

Through October 27, a total of 12,165 adult hatchery coho had returned to the salmon hatchery. This year's return to date is about half of the 26,093 adults that had returned through the same period last year. For the season, nearly 74,000 adult hatchery coho returned to the salmon hatchery in 2002.

Slightly over 4,000 sea run cutthroats had returned to the trout hatchery through October 27. At the same time last year, nearly 7,000 fish had returned.

Washougal River - No report on angling success. Through October 29, a total of 616 adult coho had returned to the salmon hatchery. At the same time last year, 36 adults had returned.

Yakima River - Now closed to fishing for salmon. For the season, an estimated 1,400 adult and 40 jack fall chinook were caught.

Sturgeon -

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - No report.

Trout -

Kress Lake near Kalama - 7 warmwater bank fishers had no catch.

Goose Lake - 5 bank anglers kept 4 cutthroats, 2 browns, and 1 eastern brook. 2 boat anglers released 4 eastern brooks, 3 cutthroats, and 1 brown.
