Salmon/Steelhead -

Grays River - From mouth to Hwy. 4 Bridge opens to fishing for hatchery steelhead beginning November 15. The mainstem from the Hwy. 4 Bridge to the South Fork and the West Fork from the mouth to the hatchery intake/footbridge will open to fishing for hatchery steelhead beginning December 15.

Elochoman River - No information on angler success. The first 7 late stock hatchery coho had returned to the salmon hatchery through November 1.

Cowlitz River - Bank anglers near the barrier dam are mainly catching coho while those near the trout hatchery are mainly catching steelhead. Effort has dropped from the I-5 bridge downstream.

From Nov. 6 through Dec. 31, a non-buoyant lure restriction and night closure will be in effect on the section of the Cowlitz River between 100 feet and 400 feet downstream from the barrier dam below the hatchery.

During the past week Tacoma Power and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife recovered 7,647 adult coho salmon, 1,160 coho jacks, 264 fall chinook adults, six fall chinook jacks, 199 summer-run steelhead, eight winter-run steelhead and 54 cutthroat trout at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator during seven days of operations.

Tacoma Power and WDFW employees released 4,992 coho adults and 576 coho jacks into Riffe Lake at Mossyrock Park during the week. A total of 410 summer-run steelhead, seven winter-run steelhead and 49 cutthroat trout were recycled to the Barrier Dam and Massey Bar boat launches.

Tacoma Power employees released 58 fall chinook adults, 11 coho adults, two coho jacks and two cutthroat trout into the Tilton River at Gust Backstrom Park in Morton. A total of 119 fall chinook adults, five jacks, 69 coho adults and 11 coho jacks were released into Mayfield Lake at Ike Kinswa Park.

River flows at Mayfield Dam are approximately 13,800 cubic feet per second on Monday, November 6 and may increase during the week. Water visibility is over 8 feet.

Lake Scanewa (Cowlitz Falls Reservoir) - Boat anglers are catching some coho. Tacoma Power employees transported 1,795 coho adults and 192 coho jacks to the Cowlitz River at the Lake Scanewa Day Use Site during the week. In addition, they released 385 coho adults and 97 jacks into the upper Cowlitz River at Franklin Bridge in Packwood. WDFW transported two sea-run cutthroat trout to the upper Cowlitz River basin.

Kalama River - Bank anglers are catching some coho with a lot of the fish being released (mixture of hatchery and wild fish).

Lewis River - Bank anglers near the salmon hatchery are catching some coho.

Klickitat River - Coho are moving into the lower river. The few bank anglers sampled averaged about 1.5 coho per rod while boat anglers averaged a fish per rod.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Boat anglers in the Camas/Washougal area were catching a hatchery coho per every 3 rods.

Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers averaged a coho kept per every other rod.

Sturgeon -

Lower Columbia from the Wauna power lines to Bonneville Dam - No legals were observed from the boats sampled from Camas/Washougal upstream and bank anglers near Longview.

Trout -

Kress Lake near Kalama - 64 adult summer run steelhead were released into the lake October 27-30.
