WDFW Sport Sampling Results:
November 12, 2003

Salmon/Steelhead -

Cispus River - 10 anglers kept 16 adult and 2 jack coho kept and released 16 adults and 4 jacks.

Lake Scanewa - 25 boat anglers kept 13 adult and 3 jack coho kept and released 12 adults and 3 jacks. 3 bank anglers released 1 adult coho.

Cowlitz River at Packwood - 36 anglers kept 39 adult and 5 jacks kept and 1 adult and 1 jack released.

Cowlitz River - During the past week, Tacoma Power employees recovered 3,777 coho adults, 1,342 coho jacks, 867 fall Chinook adults, two fall Chinook jacks, 23 summer-run steelhead, two winter-run steelhead, three cutthroat trout and four chum salmon during seven days of separator operations at Tacoma Power's Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery.

Tacoma Power personnel released 964 coho adults and 408 coho jacks into the Cowlitz River near the Franklin Bridge in Packwood, Washington . A total of 1,039 coho adults and 267 coho jacks were released into Lake Scanewa above Cowlitz Falls Dam, and 851 coho adults and 315 coho jacks were released into the Cispus River. Tacoma Power personnel released a total of 628 coho adults, 305 coho jacks, 614 fall Chinook adults, two Chinook jacks and two cutthroat trout into the Tilton River at Gust Backstrom Park in Morton, Washington during the week.

River flows at Mayfield Dam are approximately 3,550 cubic feet per second on Monday, November 10. Flows are expected to remain steady during the week. Water visibility is five feet.


Trout -

South Lewis County Park Pond in Toledo - 6 bank anglers kept six 12-14" rainbows and released 1 rainbow.

Kress Lake in Kalama - 4 bank anglers had no trout.

Horseshoe Lake in Woodland - 4 bank anglers had no trout.
