Sport Sampling Summaries - PDF Format
Salmon/Steelhead
- Cowlitz River - Some hatchery coho are being caught downstream from the
barrier dam. However, best fishing was at Lake Scanewa (Cowlitz Falls Reservoir)
where one day of sampling last week showed an average of an hatchery adult
coho per boat angler.
- Through November 6, nearly 11,000 hatchery sea-run cutthroat had returned
to the Cowlitz Trout Hatchery. Over 32,000 adult coho had returned to the
salmon hatchery through November 6.
- Kalama - Fairly slow for hatchery coho. Through November 13, a total of
300 late stock hatchery coho had returned to Kalama Falls Hatchery. This compares
to 8,625 fish counted through the same time last year. About 100 hatchery
summer-run steelhead were put into Kress Lake early last week.
- Lewis River - Some hatchery coho are being caught. Through November 13,
nearly 1,300 late stock hatchery adult coho had returned to the facilities.
This compares to 13,200 fish counted through the same time last year. Ten
hatchery winter steelhead had been counted at Merwin Dam through November
13.
- Washougal River - No report on angling success. Through November 13, a total
of 1,000 late stock hatchery adult coho had returned to the salmon hatchery.
That compares to 8,514 fish counted through the same time last year.
- Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Low effort and catches.
- Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers averaged nearly an adult coho per rod last
week.
- Ringold - Bad weather kept the steelhead harvest down last week with 1 fish
kept per every 5.2 bank rods while boat anglers averaged one per every 11.7
rods.
Sturgeon
- Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Re-opens to catch and keep fishing
beginning this Saturday (November 23).
- Bonneville Pool - Producing some legals for both bank and boat anglers.
