River flows at Mayfield Dam are currently at 3,530 cubic feet per second (cfs) on Monday, October 17. Water visibility at Mayfield Dam is 9 feet.

Lake Scanewa (Cowlitz Falls Reservoir) - As displayed above, several loads of coho are being transported to the upper watershed daily. Including fish released, boat anglers averaged a fish per every 3 rods. Bank anglers at the Day Use Park were also catching some fish.

Kalama River - Light effort. Bank anglers are releasing some fall chinook and coho.

Lewis River - Little report on angling success. Through Oct. 11, a total of 16 winter run steelhead and 52 late stock coho had returned to the facilities.

Yakima River - Quite a bit of effort this past week. An estimated 238 adult chinook were harvested. Catch rates averaged 1 chinook harvested for every 18.5 angler hours. October 22 is the last scheduled day to fish for salmon.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Effort and catches are light.

Ringold - Including fish released, bank anglers averaged a steelhead per every 6 rods. Some fall chinook were also being caught.

Hanford Reach - Boat anglers averaged ½ chinook per rod. High flows all week made fishing difficult. Fish conditions are declining. October 22 is the last day to fish for salmon from the Old Hanford townsite wooden powerline towers upstream to Priest Rapids Dam.

Sturgeon -

Lower Columbia from the Wauna power lines upstream to Bonneville Dam - Bank anglers just below Bonneville Dam averaged ½ legal kept per rod. Bank angling effort is high in the gorge with 251 and 397 anglers counted on the Washington and Oregon shores, respectively, during the Saturday October 15 flight.

From October 1-15, an estimated 4,000 legal sturgeon had been kept from the Wauna powerlines upstream to Bonneville Dam. This represents approximately slightly more than half of the remaining 7,800 fish for this area for the year.
