Salmon/Steelhead
- Cowlitz River - At Lake Scanewa
last week, 122 boat anglers sampled kept or released 77 salmon, primarily
coho. 5 bank anglers had 2 salmon.
Beginning Saturday Nov. 9, the hatchery steelhead daily limit reverts back
to 2 fish from the barrier dam downstream.
- During the past week Tacoma Power's
Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator recovered 6,262 coho salmon, 983 coho jacks,
342 fall chinook salmon, ten fall chinook jacks, 20 summer-run steelhead and
four cutthroat trout during seven days of separator operations.
- Tacoma Power employees released
4,411 coho adults, 726 coho jacks, 276 fall chinook adults and seven fall
chinook jacks, into the upper Cowlitz River at the Day Use Park on Lake Scanewa
during the week.
- Beginning on Thursday October
24, releases were resumed at the Skate Creek Bridge site on the upper Cowlitz
River in Packwood , Washington . A total of 268 adult coho salmon, 43 coho
jacks and three chinook adults were released during the week.
- In addition, Tacoma Power employees
released 1,108 coho salmon, 213 coho jacks, 43 fall chinook adults, three
chinook jacks and two cutthroat trout into the Tilton River arm of Mayfield
Lake at the Ike Kinswa State Park boat ramp.
- A total of 42 summer-run steelhead
and one cutthroat trout were recycled downstream to the Olequa boat launch
during the week.
- River flows at Mayfield Dam are
approximately 3,930 cubic feet per second on Monday, October 28. Water visibility
is ten feet.
- Kalama River - Some hatchery coho
are being caught.
- East Fork Lewis River - No report
on angling success. Selective gear rules are removed beginning Nov. 1; bait
may be used.
- Lewis River (including North Fork)
upstream to Colvin Creek - Beginning Sat. Nov. 9, the hatchery steelhead daily
limit reverts back to 2 fish.
- Yakima River - Salmon fishing
slowed last week. Thursday (Oct. 31) is the scheduled last day to fish for
salmon on the Yakima.
- Lower Columbia below Bonneville
Dam - Some hatchery coho are being caught, primarily in the Camas/Washougal
area.
- Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers
continue to catch coho.
- Hanford Reach - Chinook and hatchery
steelhead are being caught in the Ringold area.
Sturgeon
- Bonneville Pool - Bank anglers
are catching some legals. Through September 30, an estimated 1,241 of the
1,520 (82%) guideline had been taken.
