Salmon/Steelhead -
Cowlitz River - Light catches from the lower river last week.
Lake Scanewa - Low catch rates are probably due to muddy water.
During the past week, Tacoma Power employees recovered 596 fall chinook adults, three fall chinook jacks, 4,215 coho adults, 1,050 coho jacks, 84 summer-run steelhead and three cutthroat trout during seven days of separator operations at Tacoma Power's Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery.
Tacoma Power personnel released 837 coho adults and 302 coho jacks into the Cowlitz River near the Franklin Bridge in Packwood, Washington. A total of 1,294 coho adults and 195 coho jacks were released into Lake Scanewa above Cowlitz Falls Dam and 863 coho adults and 278 coho jacks were released into the Cispus River.
Tacoma Power personnel released a total of 902 coho adults, 249 coho jacks, 459 fall chinook adults, three chinook jacks and two cutthroat trout into the Tilton River at Gus Backstrom Park in Morton, Washington during the week.
River flows below Mayfield Dam are approximately 3,540 cubic feet per second on Monday, October 27. Water visibility is nine feet.
Kalama and Lewis rivers - Not a lot of catch observed during checks last week.Wind River - Still some coho being caught. October 31 is the last day to fish for salmon.
White Salmon and Klickitat rivers - Muddy during the middle of last week.
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Effort and catches were light. Over half of the 82 boats counted during last Saturday's flight (Oct. 25) were counted in the Camas/Washougal area.
Bonneville Pool - Some coho are still being taken off the mouth of the tributaries.
Yakima River - Bank anglers retained a chinook per every 5.2 rods last week. October 31 is the last day to fish for salmon.
Hanford Reach - Chinook and steelhead fishing is still going strong in the Ringold area. Boat anglers retained a chinook per every 1.9 rods and kept/released one steelhead per every 2.7 rods.
Bank anglers at Ringold did well on steelhead with a fish kept/released per every 2 rods last week.
Sturgeon -
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Bank anglers just below Bonneville Dam averaged a legal kept per every 7.3 rods last week. Boat anglers in the Vancouver area were also catching some legals. October 31 is the last day for catch-and-keep from the Wauna powerlines upstream to Bonneville Dam.
About 200 sturgeon boats and 244 Oregon bank and 112 Washington bank anglers were counted during last Saturday's flight. Heaviest effort was found in the gorge.
Trout -
Swofford Pond and Kidney Lakes - Still continue to produce recently planted rainbows.
Lacamas Lake near Camas - Bank anglers are catching yellow perch 8-10" in length and some
browns.
