Salmon/Steelhead

Cowlitz River - No report on angling success. Last week, Tacoma Power recovered 5,209 coho salmon adults, 351 coho jacks, 241 fall chinook adults, 35 jacks, 15 summer-run steelhead, ten cutthroat trout, one chum salmon and one sockeye salmon at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator during seven days of operations.

During the week Tacoma Power employees released 885 coho adults and 43 jacks into Riffe Lake at the Taidnapam North boat launch, 400 coho adults and 28 coho jacks into Lake Scanewa at the Day Use Site, 152 coho adults and nine jacks into the Cispus River above the mouth of Yellow Jacket Creek, 150 coho adults and 24 jacks into the upper Cowlitz River at the Skate Creek Bridge in Packwood, Washington and 46 coho adults, one jack, 39 fall chinook adults, 25 jacks and one cutthroat trout into the Tilton River at Gust Backstrom Park in Morton, Washington.

River flows at Mayfield Dam are approximately at 4,700 cubic feet per second on Monday, October 29. Water visibility is 12 feet.

Effective November 1, the hatchery steelhead daily limit on the lower Cowlitz reverts back to 2 fish.

Kalama River - Light effort though some coho are being caught. The first winter steelhead of the year was reported at Kalama Falls Hatchery last week.

North Fork Lewis River - Boat anglers averaged slightly over a coho per rod while bank anglers averaged one per every 6 rods. Some fall chinook are being caught and released.

White Salmon River - Some coho are reported being caught although none were found in the sample.

Klickitat River - Bank anglers below the Fisher Hill Bridge are catching some coho.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Generally light effort. No fish were found in the sample.

Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers at the mouth of the Klickitat averaged nearly a coho per rod. Fish are bright. 55 boats were counted at the mouth last Saturday (Oct. 27) morning.

Sturgeon

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Boat and bank anglers in the gorge averaged a legal kept per about every 8 rods.

Walleye

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Slowed in the Camas/Washougal area.

Trout

Silver Lake near Castle Rock - Reported very good for crappie.

Battle Ground Lake - Excellent fishing from the recent plant of 1,055 rainbow trout at 1.8+ pounds each.

Rowland and Spearfish lakes - Good for rainbows. Very nice fish at Spearfish.

Horsethief Lake - No effort. Tomorrow (Oct. 31) is the last day to fish
