Salmon/Steelhead -

Marine Area 1 (Ilwaco) - Today (September 30) is the last day of the season. No report available on recent catches.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Fall chinook are still being caught at the rate of an adult per every 4 boat anglers from Longview upstream last week. Some hatchery coho are also being taken. Bank angling is slow.

Toutle River - Producing some fall chinook and hatchery coho.

Cowlitz River - Anglers are catching some fall chinook and hatchery coho from the lower river.

During the past week, Tacoma Power employees recovered 1,567 fall chinook adults, 60 fall chinook jacks, five spring chinook adults, 275 coho adults, 79 coho jacks, 74 summer-run steelhead and four cutthroat trout during five days of separator operations at Tacoma Power's Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery.

A total of 86 coho adults, 31 coho jacks, and three spring chinook adults were released into the Cowlitz River near the Franklin Bridge in Packwood, Washington. A total of 84 coho adults, 34 coho jacks, and two spring chinook adults were released into Lake Scanewa above Cowlitz Falls Dam. In addition, two coho adults and one cutthroat trout were released at the Ike Kinswa State Park boat launch in Mayfield Lake.

Tacoma Power employees recycled 557 fall chinook adults, 16 chinook jacks, and 29 steelhead downstream to the Massey Bar boat launch, and 573 fall chinook adults, 33 chinook jacks and 37 steelhead were recycled downstream to the Olequa boat launch.
River flows at Mayfield Dam are approximately 2,990 cubic feet per second on Monday, September 29. Water visibility is over 12 feet.

Lewis River - Producing fall chinook and hatchery coho.

Wind River - Producing coho.

Drano Lake - Mostly fall chinook are being caught here.

White Salmon River - Producing more coho than fall chinook at this time.

Klickitat River - Producing fall chinook and some summer-run steelhead.

Bonneville Pool - Mostly fall chinook are being caught near the mouths of the tributaries.

Yakima River - Fishing for fall chinook on the lower Yakima remains slow with a fish per every 25.6 rods last week.

Hanford Reach - Chinook angling improved last week with a chinook for every 3.4 boat rods. This year's catch rate is behind last year's record harvest. Last year at this time, the catch was a chinook per every 2.7 rods.

Sturgeon -

Lower Columbia from the Wauna powerlines upstream to Bonneville Dam - Boat anglers are finding some legals from Camas/Washougal upstream.

Trout -

Goose Lake - Boat anglers averaged 4 trout per rod last week. Mostly cutthroats and a few browns and rainbows. Fish ranged from 15-20 inches in length.
