Operators of all commercial salmon fishing gear types fishing in Puget Sound are encouraged to attend a public hearing scheduled for August 21, 2007 in order for testimony to be taken on an objection lobbied over the Chum targeted pre-season schedule. Currently no seasonal openings will be affected by the objection.

The Hearing will be held in Olympia, Washington in the Natural Resources Building on the 1st floor in room 172 from 1:30 until 4:30 pm on Tuesday August 21st. For driving directions contact (360) 902-2700.

Currently All Puget Sound marine and freshwater areas are closed to all-citizen commercial salmon fishing until further notice.

The 2007 Puget Sound Commercial Salmon Regulation pamphlet was mailed the week of May 13th. If you have not received a copy please contact (360) 902-2700 and ask for a copy or check our web site where one may be downloaded at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/regs/commregs/salregs.htm A schedule of Fish Friendly workshops is also available at this web address.

Fishers are reminded that a Fish Friendly certification card will be required to participate in any Area 7 or 7A commercial salmon fisheries. Contact Jeromy Jording at (360) 902-2717 if you need to attend a workshop to get a card.
