UPDATE:

  • Areas 10 and 11 Seattle and Tacoma are closed to commercial harvest for all week 46 openings.
  • Areas 12 and 12B Hood Canal will be closed to gill nets for week 46 openings.
  • Areas 12C Hood Canal will be closed to commercial harvest for all week 46 openings.

    PLEASE BE AWARE!

On Wednesday, November 6th, the fifth test catch of the Apple Cove Test Fishery yielded a total of 80 chum, 0 Coho, and 21 Chinook in 5 sets. The South Sound chum runsize has been updated from 580,000 to 645,000.

The Hood Canal Chum runsize has been updated from 587,000 to 784,000.

Areas 7 and 7A require Fish Friendly certification cards within your immediate possession to participate.

For the period of November 11th – November 17th all areas are currently closed except as follows:

Areas 7 and 7A San Juan Islands and Point Roberts are open for reef nets 5 AM to 9 PM daily, continuously through Saturday, November 17th. Chinook and sockeye must be released at all times.

Areas 7 and 7A San Juan Islands and Point Roberts are open daily for gill nets using 6 ¼ -inch minimum mesh from 12:00 Noon to Midnight through Saturday, November 17th.

Areas 7 and 7A San Juan Islands and Point Roberts are open daily for purse seines using the 5-inch strip from 7 AM to 2:30 PM for vessels without an operating recovery box and 7 AM to 5 PM for vessels with an operating recovery box through Saturday, November 17th.

  • Brailing is required and all Chinook and coho must be released and if injured or lethargic, placed in the recovery box for release after they have recovered.

Area 7B Bellingham Bay will be open continuously to gill nets using 6 ¼ -inch minimum mesh, and to purse seines using the 5-inch strip continuously from Monday November, 12th through 4 PM Friday, November 16th.

  • All gears must release Sockeye immediately.
  • The portion of Area 7B east of a line from Post Point to the flashing red light at the west entrance to Squalicum Harbor is open to commercial harvest continuously until 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 7th.

Area 8 Skagit Bay will be open to gill nets using 6 ¼ -inch minimum mesh from 7 AM to 7 PM on Monday, November 12th, Wednesday, November 14th and from 7 AM to 4 PM on Friday, November 16th

Area 8 Skagit Bay will be open to purse seines using the 5-inch strip from 7 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday, November 13th. Chinook must be released.

Area 8A Port Susan and Port Gardner will be open to gill nets using 6 ¼ -inch minimum mesh from 7 AM to 7 PM on Tuesday, November 13th, Thursday, November 15th and from 7AM to 4 PM on Friday, November 16th

Area 8A Port Susan and Port Gardner will be open to all purse seine vessels using the 5-inch strip from 7 AM to 5 PM on Monday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 14th. Chinook must be released.

Area 8D Tulalip Bay will be open to gill nets using 6 ¼ -inch minimum mesh from 7 AM to 7 PM on Thursday, November 15th, and from 7 AM to 4 PM on Friday, November 16th.

Area 8D Tulalip Bay will be open to purse seines using the 5-inch strip from 7 AM to 5 PM on Wednesday, November 14th. Chinook must be released.

Areas 12 and 12B Hood Canal will be open to purse seines using the 5-inch strip from 7 AM to 5 PM on Monday, November 12th. Chinook must be released.
