Sport Catch Estimates

Which rivers have the highest catches of salmon? What month should I be there? Questions about the number of salmon caught throughout the state are often asked of WDFW staff. Did you know that each year since 1967 WDFW has published a complete estimate of all the salmon caught in the state and makes that information available to the average angler? Catch estimates are derived from Catch Record Cards (punch cards) and dockside sampling of catch, or from creel surveys. Sport Catch Reports from 1995 - 2001 are available on the internet at Sport Catch Reports. Each year, additional Catch Reports are added. Unfortunately, we are behind in getting out the most recent reports, but they will be added as soon as they are completed. The Sport Catch Reports are a great tool for beginning anglers to learn some of the places where salmon can be caught.
