HARVEST PROFILE: Not much is known about the current status of clam populations on DNR-404A. Surveys conducted in the late 1980s and early 1990s found good numbers of butter clams. Native littleneck clams and cockles were also present on this beach in fair numbers. There is about 4,200 linear feet of public tidelands boundary to boundary (photo of beach).

DIRECTIONS TO SITE: DNR-404A is boat access only. There is no upland access to this beach. The western boundary of DNR-404A is about 900 feet west of Kinney Point (the southern most point on Marowstone Island). The eastern boundary is about 1,300 feet east of Kinney Point. A good landmark for the eastern boundary is the large clearing on the uplands above the beach. The clearing begins just west of the boundary. The GPS coordinates for the midpoint of this beach are: 48.086ºN, 122.882ºW. Harvesters are advised to use these coordinates to stay near the midpoint of this beach or in the immediate vicinity of Kinney Point to avoid trespassing.

Nearest boat ramps: Mats Mats boat ramp (located on Mats Mats Bay off of Oak Bay Road about one mile north of Port Ludlow) is about four miles by boat to the tip of Kinney Point. Lower Hadlock boat ramp (located just south of Port Hadlock on Oak Bay Road) is about three and a half miles by boat from the tip of Kinney Point.
