Please note that the State Dept. of Health cautions that Clams,Oysters and Mussels from the southern portion of this beach (Map) are not fit for human consumption at any time. Health closures are common in this area. Be sure to check the D.O.H. website before harvesting on this beach.

HARVEST PROFILE: There are populations of native littleneck clams and Manilla clams on this beach.

There has been some oyster enhancement on this beach. There have been no recent population surveys on this beach but there should be some oysters available here.

DIRECTIONS TO SITE: Brownsville is located about ten miles southeast of Poulsbo and about five miles east of Silverdale. The easiest route from north or south is on Highway 3. Take the Bangor/Keyport exit and go east on highway 308 towards Keyport. Follow Highway 308 for about three miles to the Brownsville turnoff just before Keyport. Take a right and proceed another three and one half miles to Brownsville. Brownsville Marina is on the left and there is ample parking. There is a foot path that leads from the Marina store to the public fishing dock at the north end of the marina. Follow the path towards the fishing dock and take the access stairs to the beach. It is about 350 yards from the fishing dock north to the harvestable portion of the Brownsville beach.

FACILITIES: Facilities at Brownsville include restrooms, a store, picnic tables and a public fishing dock.
