HARVEST PROFILE: This is a relatively small, rocky beach but native littleneck clams, Manila clams and butter clams are present. The butter clams can be found in the mid-low tidal zone and the Manila and native littlenecks can be found primarily in the mid-high tidal zone.

This is a good beach for oysters.

DIRECTIONS TO SITE: Cushman Park (Saltwater Park) is located about 13 miles north of Shelton on Highway 101. From the south coming on Highway 101 through Shelton, proceed north crossing the Skokomish River and passing by Potlatch State Park. Cushman Park is about one mile north of Potlatch State Park on the right side of the highway. There is a hydroelectric facility (for the city of Tacoma) just northwest of Cushman Park.

If you are coming from Kitsap County (Kingston, Bremerton) take Highway 3 to the town of Gorst (just south of Bremerton) and take the turnoff to Belfair. Belfair is about eight miles from Gorst. At the north end of Belfair take the Union, Twanoh State Park exit onto Highway 106 and continue along Hood Canal for about 21 and a half miles to the intersection of Highway 106 and Highway 101. Turn right on Highway 101 and drive for about another three and a half miles to Cushman Park which will be on the right side of the highway just before the hydroelectric facility.

From the north on Highway 101 (Quilcene, Port Angeles) travel south through the town of Hoodsport and continue for about another two miles to Cushman Park which will be on the left just after you cross over the outflow stream for the hydroelectric facility.

FACILITIES: There are restrooms, drinking water, boat ramp, picnic tables and ample parking at Cushman Park (Saltwater Park).
