HARVEST PROFILE: This is an excellent beach for native littleneck clams and Manila clams. The best area for littleneck clams is just north of the access trail, but there are littleneck clams throughout the beach. This is also a good beach for geoducks below the -2.0 foot tide level, especially beneath the power transmission lines. There are some butter clams, eastern softshell clams and cockles on this beach, but they are not as abundant as the Manila and native littleneck clams.

This is an excellent beach for oysters. The area north of the access has been heavily planted with oysters.

DIRECTIONS TO SITE: From Bremerton, drive south on Highway 3 through Belfair. After passing North Mason High School, turn left onto Highway 302 heading east toward Purdy, Gig Harbor and Tacoma. Drive about 2.6 miles to powerlines crossing North Bay. Look for the signed parking area on the west side of the highway just north of the power lines.

From Tacoma, drive north on Highway 16 past Gig Harbor; take Highway 302 west past Purdy and continue about 1.3 miles past Victor Rd. to powerlines crossing the bay. Look for the signed parking area on the west side of the highway just north of the power lines.

From Shelton, head north on Highway 3. At Allyn, turn right onto North Bay Rd. and follow around the head of the bay about 1.9 miles to Highway 302. Continue on 302 about 1.3 miles to powerlines crossing the bay. Look for the signed parking area on the west side of the highway just north of the power lines.

The WDFW access to the public tidelands is immediately north of the powerlines crossing the bay. Do not trespass on private upland parcels to the north and south of this access. There is a gravel parking lot at the site (photo). The public tidelands extend 1,600 feet to the south of the powerlines and northward nearly to the head of the bay (photo).

FACILITIES: Portable toilets are located on site.
