Click on map to enlarge

Location:

An Upper Columbia River tributary in Chelan County, Washington.  Adult traps are located at Dryden and Tumwater Dams, and juvenile traps are placed at Lake Wenatchee (RM 53) and Monitor (RM 7.1).  A number of tributaries are also trapped; the longest is the Chiwawa River (RM 15.0).

History:

The Wenatchee River traps are operated by WDFW’s Hatchery/Wild Interactions Mid-Columbia staff.  Downstream trapping began in the Chiwawa River in 1994.  The Lake Wenatchee trap was added in 1997 to monitor sockeye production from the lake and the Monitor trap was installed in 2000.  A screw trap is operated at each of these sites.  The Wenatchee River was added to the Intensively Monitored Watershed Project (IMW) in June 2004.

Methods:

Juvenile screw traps and adult fishway traps.
